Traveling as Couple
I feared a room next to the laundry or garbage dump for the price but were pleasantly pleased with the walk out room to the gardens and the small details that made our stay memorable. Dinner was excellent at the Tidewater Grill; at breakfast, we sat and watched the waves come crashing to shore, a swan swimming in a Koi pond, and tropical beauty and yes, breakfast was perfect. The Grand Hyatt was definitely grand. From the start, we had amazing service. The hotel was beautiful. The pool area was amazing- by far the best pools we have seen, and we have stayed at a lot of hotels. There were always chairs, even when it was busy. The only thing that I would not consider 5 star are the rooms. The bed was comfortable and the room was decent-sized, but the TV was small and outdated, the bathroom was definitely not 5 start (double sink- good, but bathtub- bad). The towels were not nice at all. The restaurants were very expensive, and even though there was a number of them, we did not feel that they had enough variety. ...read more

Traveling as Couple
The Grand Hyatt on Kauai is absolutely opulent. And fittingly expensive. The rooms are nicely appointed and the grounds are spectacular. The pool/lagoon areas alone are worth the trip. The on-site restaurants are fantastic as well. The isolated nature of this resort (and most things on Kauai) makes the renting of a car a near-must.
